ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Kane opened the tennis season on Saturday with a dominant victory playing in the 1st singles slot for the Bulldogs vs. Quincy. His win helped the Bulldogs cruise to a 4-1 victory over the Jackrabbits. Kane qualified for the state tournament in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. His junior year was canceled due to COVID-19, and unfortunately he will not have the opportunity to compete at the state tournament this season due to an abbreviated 2021 spring sports season. Kane is widely considered as one of the top players in the Caribou Trail League and is poised to have an outstanding senior season.
Coach Kert: “Kane is continuing to build on his legacy of being a committed and hard-working tennis player that has resulted in two state appearances. He is a great example for younger players to learn from and emulate. I’m very thankful for his senior leadership and that he hasn’t let unfortunate events stop him from staying committed to something he started”
Ella has had a great start to her junior season for the Bulldogs softball team. Last Tuesday, she helped the Bulldogs pick up a crucial 5-1 road victory at Omak. Ella had two hits on the day and played solid defense at her shortstop position. She has been a steady presence at the top of the Bulldog’s line-up over the team’s first three games.
Coach Mongeon: “Starting off the year as our leadoff hitter, Ella has been solid offensively with a 3-game hitting streak. She is also leading our team with a .364 batting average. She works hard every day to improve her game and continues to set a good example for our entire team as she anchors the left side of the infield.”
